Socioeconomic position and VTE

Socioeconomic position is related to VTE (Illustration: MostPhotos.com)

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a frequent, multifactorial disease, and data proposes that long-term complications of VTE negatively impacts physical functioning and quality of life. Socioeconomic position (income, education level, work) has been shown to influence the risk and prognosis of diseases and health behavioral outcomes, and a relationship between socioeconomic position and arterial cardiovascular disease is well established. Although associations between VTE and physical health are well established, information on the psychosocial risk factors for and outcomes of VTE is limited.

In this project, we investigate the relationship between socieoeconomic position and VTE, the impact of VTE on work-related disability, emotional states and VTE as well as education level and VTE.
