Humanistisk og samfunnsvitskapleg forsking har ei nøkkelrolle for velferd og utvikling i Noreg. Forskinga ved HSL-fakultetet er viktig for forståinga av nordområda, og vi har ein sterk posisjon innan urfolksforsking og forsking på samiske samfunnstilhøve. Forskarane våre er internasjonalt orienterte og aktive i debatten om globale utfordringar som utdanning, helse, energi, klima og miljø. Vi har også bygd opp unike forskingsdatabasar innan samisk, kunsthistorie og historie som blir brukt av forskarar frå heile verda.
